Clarets see Worrall bids rejected

Burnley have had two bids rejected today for Nottingham Forest stopper Joe Worrall but are set to return with an improved offer tomorrow.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche wants England U21 centre-back Worrall and has made his move.
MirrorSport understands Forest have rebuffed Burnley’s initial two offers in the region of £4million and £6m.
But the Greek-owned City Ground based outfit have not categorically dismissed selling their biggest asset if they get a bid of around £10m.
A deal could happen on deadline day as Dyche is determined the land the highly-rated defender who he has scouted personally and done due diligence on.
Worrall, who turned 21 this month, has made 46 Championship starts for his hometown team and was outstanding earlier this month in their shock away win at leaders Wolves.

Rodgers: We beat 24 clubs to Musonda

Boss Brendan Rodgers claims Celtic beat 24 clubs to the brink of signing of Chelsea attacker Charly Musonda.
The 21-year-old arrived in Glasgow on Monday morning to sign an 18-month loan deal with the Parkhead club following a medical.

City ready to loan Mangala to Newcastle

Manchester City are ready to send £40million flop Eliaquim Mangala to Newcastle on loan after landing Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
French international centre-back Laporte is on his way to the Etihad after the Premier League leaders triggered the £57million buy-out clause in his contract.
And City are now in talks with Newcastle about allowing Mangala to help Rafa Benitez’s fight against relegation.
Pep Guardiola deemed the 26-year-old surplus to requirements when he arrived at City in 2016, allowing him to spend the season on loan at Valencia.
A £23million deal to sell Mangala to Crystal Palace last summer then collapsed when the Frenchman refused to move to Selhurst Park.
Guardiola has used Mangala this season when injuries to Vincent Kompany and John Stones forced his hand.
But he made signing Laporte a priority after seeing the former Porto defender struggle against Bristol City in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
City will be looking for the Toon to pay most of Mangala’s £80,000-a-week wages after Benitez was given promises about money being made available for new signings.

Hodgson gives transfer update

Roy Hodgson has given the latest on Palace’s transfer activity before the West Ham game tomorrow night – and also said the pressure to get new signings had been eased by a shortening injury list.
On Getae keeper Vicente Guaita, he said: “No update on that, but he’s a player we like and are still pursuing. It would be nice if he could come in during the January window, and it’s something the chairman and Dougie Freedman are trying to do.”
On Lille centre-back Ibrahim Amadou, he said: “Another name we’ve talked about, but it’s a deal or a decision or a situation being dealt with by the chairman and the sporting director.”
And on Burnley’s Ashley Barnes, the former England manager said: “That’s the first I’d heard of it, on your channel (Sky Sports News). No truth in it at all. But he’s a good player.”
Hodgson said the two signings Palace had made this window – Polish defender Jaroslaw Jach and Erdal Rakip, on loan from Benfica, would not be in the squad tomorrow night.

“They like to play along the floor and the Gaffer is a big part of me deciding to come to Barnsley.”

Laporte confirms Bilbao exit

Athletic Bilbao have released a statement from Aymeric Laporte.
The defender is moving to Manchester City in a £57million deal.

His final stop in Europe was in Portugal, where he played for Lisbon-based giants Benfica, before returning home to Flamengo this January.

Sturridge set for West Brom

Daniel Sturridge is heading to West Brom as he bids to revive his England dream.
The Liverpool striker is desperate for more game time as he looks to earn a place on the plane to the World Cup in Russia next summer.
And his Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is ready to grant that wish by allowing him to join Albion on an initial loan deal until the end of the season, that will allow him to find his fitness after a long term lay off.
Sturridge has been linked with a host of clubs looking to harness his goalscoring talent, with Inter Milan, Roma and Sevilla all looking to take him on loan.
Newcastle have also been linked, with the north east club approaching Liverpool with the promise of a loan fee for the striker.
But West Brom has emerged as the most likely destination, with the midlands outfit ready to agree to a deal that will contain the prospect of a permanent deal at the end of the season.

He’s a very important player for me, a great professional that is giving everything he can to help the team and there is a desire from myself, the board and the player to stay together,” said Mourinho.
“That’s our objective. Are we going to reach? Are we going to agree? I don’t know. But I know that myself the board and the player would like to have a happy ending.
“I’m happy with his contribution, he’s being a great prof for us. I know he wants to stay with us, he knows I want him and the clubs wants him, which is important to him.”

Jose Mourinho has told Zlatan Ibrahimovic he can leave Manchester United to join LA Galaxy in the MLS.
Ibrahimovic, who is making his way back an injury setback following a seven-month lay-off, is wanted by Galaxy, with the MLS transfer window opening on February 7.
Mourinho claimed he knew nothing of Galaxy’s interest in the 36-year-old, but admitted United will not stand in Ibrahimovic’s way if he decides he wants to go in the coming weeks.
“He told me nothing about it,” said Mourinho. “The first time I read something or listened to something about it was from you media.
“He never mentioned that to me, so I don’t know. Zlatan is in the last year of his contract, so if – and I say if if, if - that is true and Zlatan wants a future in another club, another country, we are here to help and create conditions for that to happen, not to make his life difficult.
“But the last thing Zlatan told me he was to recover totally and help the team. That was the last thing I heard from him.”

Arsenal believe Aubameyang is agreed

Arsenal believe they have reached a £58m deal for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
They have been trying to thrash out terms with Borussia Dortmund who have been demanding £60m for Aubameyang who is desperate to join the Gunners.
But it is believed Arsenal have gone back with a new approach which includes extra add-ons and the deal will now get done.
Aubameyang, 28, will sign a £180,000-a-week contract to join Arsenal with the deal now nearing completion before Wednesday’s deadline.
It leaves Arsenal with a dilemma over Olivier Giroud who is a target for Chelsea after their move for No1 target Edin Dzeko broke down.
Giroud wants more regular football but Arsenal would want a permanent switch and a deal with Chelsea means selling to a rival.
Arsenal are also still interested in West Brom’s Jonny Evans but will not be going anywhere near the £20m asking price.
Evans can leave West Brom for £3m in the summer if they go down, Arsenal appear to be the only club in the running now and will therefore try to get the deal done cheaper than the asking price.

Aubameyang has been earmarked as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who left north London for Manchester United earlier this month.

Sakho appears set for Rennes

West Ham’s Diafra Sakho looks set to complete a move to Rennes after passing a medical, the Daily Mail reports.
It appears the French club have batted away competition from Swansea and Crystal Palace to bring the 28-year-old to Ligue 1 for £9million.

Players to watch today

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang
The 28-year-old’s move from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal looks near to completion, according to several reports.

Once the deal is finalised, it is thought Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud will move to Chelsea - should the £35million asking price be agreed upon.
Fabinho

Ndong joined Sunderland for a club record £13.6 million in 2016.

Dzeko deal set to fall through

Chelsea have not been able to persuade their first choice transfer pick Edin Dzeko to move to Stamford Bridge, the Daily Star reports.
Talks between the two sides have broken down, the paper says, with agreement on personal terms said to have been the stumbling block.
Now speculation is rife that Antonio Conte could look to Ashley Barnes, Islam Slimani and Peter Crouch as he seeks to bolster his frontline.

Ronaldo 'could make Premier League return'

Cristiano Ronaldo could be making a shock return to the Premier League, according to The Sun.
The paper suggest the Real Madrid star is unhappy in Spain and would be open to a potential move back to England.
It is thought Manchester United’s signing of Alexis Sanchez rules out a transfer to his former club and Chelsea would be the most likely target for the five-time Ballon d’Or-winner.
It comes as reports suggest the Blues risk losing star midfielder Eden Hazard to Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.

Three-way battle for Martin

Chris Martin is at the centre of a three-way battle for his services between Fulham, Sunderland and Reading.
The Derby outcast can leave on loan, but has been stalling on a deal with Sunderland this past week.
Reading have declared an interest while Fulham, who signed the Scot last season, are also in the hunt.
It would be a controversial move by Fulham after the striker tried to force through an early return to the Rams.

Arsenal don't want to pay top dollar for Evans

Arsenal are still interested in West Brom’s Jonny Evans but do not want to pay anything like the £20m asking price, especially as he can go for just £3m in the summer if they are relegated.
It has become a one horse race for Evans as Manchester City are now looking at Atheltic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte.
But Arsenal might have to offload Olivier Giroud if they want to bring in Evans and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the end of the window.
Arsenal remain confident in the battle to sign Aubameyang - but fear it will go down to the wire.

Remy moves on

Former Chelsea forward Loic Remy has joined Getafe on loan until the end of the season.
The Frenchman arrives from fellow La Liga side Las Palmas, who he joined on a free transfer in the summer following the expiration of his Stamford Bridge contract.
The 31-year-old netted five goals in 12 LaLiga games for Las Palmas.

Fabinho issues come-get-me plea

Monaco star Fabinho has issued a come-and-get-me plea, admitting his time at the Ligue 1 club is ‘coming to an end’.
The Brazilian has been linked with both Manchester clubs plus Paris Saint-Germain.
He was linked with an exit from the Principality in the summer after helping the club to an unlikely French title in 2016-17.
But, despite Monaco selling many of their best player, he stayed put at the Stade Louis II.
However, he now admits he wants a switch to a ‘bigger club’ and a new challenge.

Inter warning over Sturridge

Inter Milan have warned they are ready to walk away from a deal for Daniel Sturridge.
The Liverpool striker had been linked with a loan move to the San Siro after falling out of favour at Anfield.
Sunday Mirror Sport revealed that Liverpool had slashed their proposed loan fee from £5m to £1.5m after failing to attract any offers.
Inter remain interested but sporting director Piero Ausilio has suggested a deal isn’t close, reports the Liverpool Echo.
“Sturridge? I don’t exclude anything, but we made our evaluations,” he said. “We already have players for that role.”
